I have a practice with a high runner volume. As a veteran of 90-plus marathons and ultramarathons of 100 miles plus and a local HS Cross Country coach, I'm blessed to have access to a lot of runners. I think as podiatrists, we have to open our minds and approach the subject in a more balanced approach. Look at the data, present the potential benefits and risks and give it to our pateints.
As the great running philosopher, Dr. George Shehan, would frequently state, "We are all a study of one"!
