I used Rushcliff's PPS Remote to make bookings on my iPad whilst I'm out and about. They offer a full system that can connect via an iPad as well. However I have my Mac for that.

I have been using a Toshiba m750 for 2 years. It is bulky (5 lbs) compared to the iPad, but multitasks, works on Windows platform(so it is compatible with EMR/PM without going through terminal services or VNC) and has a full keyboard.

We used to use tablets when they first became available. They were about $3500.00 and worked great until somebody dropped one while trying to do too many things at once. After the second fatality, we started replacing them with hard wired units which cost about $750.00 each. I can put one in every room and two on the roof for less than a couple 'drops' cost. The have bigger screens and are easier to enter data on.
