Antifungal Agent In A Convenient Package
A tried and true podiatric moisturizer is now available in a more convenient form.
Naftin® Cream utilizes naftifine HCl 1% to treat conditions such as tinea pedis, according to the manufacturer Merz Pharmaceuticals. The cream has fungicidal and fungistatic activity against various organisms, according to the company.
Naftin is now available in a new 90-g size, which is reportedly in response to physicians’ requests for fewer refills for patients. The company says DPMs can use it for non-oozing lesions that are moderately scaling and for fissured or inflamed areas.

A Helpful Guide To Wound Care Products
A new training program aims to show DPMs the best use of the wound care devices they have purchased.
Wound Care Solutions videos are now available for products marketed by DM Systems. The videos, available on CD or DVD, train DPMs how to use the Heelift Suspension Boot and the Heelift Traction Boot.
The videos include guidance on applying the products and demonstrations on their use, as well as the new features of the Heelift products, according to the company.
As DM Systems notes, the Heelift products are indicated for treating and preventing heel ulcers. The company says the CD-ROM also includes a case study of the Heelift and wound care literature.

Durable Electrodes
If your practice needs electrodes, one company now has a solution for electrodes that can withstand repeated use.
ProStim electrodes are good for various purposes and are long lasting, according to the manufacturer AliMed. The electrodes have a flexible cloth backing that can easily conform to patients’ feet, which the company says makes for even current distribution and less skin irritation.
The electrodes also have a new gel that can withstand repeated uses, says AliMed. The company adds that ProStim eliminates the occurrence of “hot spots” and is easily removable.

Swim Like A Fish
Are your active patients looking for something to increase their workout while they swim?
The Aquatic Training Shoe may be the answer. The shoe adds 20 to 30 percent more water resistance to the feet while providing support and comfort, according to the manufacturer, AQx Sports.
The shoe also has small fins on the inner and outer contour, which provide the water resistance, according to the company. AQx notes the shoe is good for cross-training, rehab or deep water running.
