Most volleyball injuries are related to blocking or spiking, both of which involve vertical jumps. The most common acute injuries in volleyball are ankle sprains.
Repeated, forced extension of the knees, as one may see in hitters and blockers, or the demands placed on the knees of defensive specialists can stress the patellofemoral joint.
