Protecting Diabetic Feet

Patients with diabetes now have two new options when it comes to protective footwear.

The T1230 and T1220 are the latest additions to the Ambulator Stretcher footwear series manufactured by Aetrex Worldwide. The shoes provide comfort and protection for patients who are diabetic or arthritic, and the shoes can accommodate a variety of foot injuries or conditions, according to the company.

Conceal As They Heal

Are your patients looking for an option to conceal their onychomycosis while it heals?

NovaNailRX may offer a viable cosmetic option for these patients. The product, which is manufactured by Hathor Enterprises, Inc., is available in several attractive colors that can hide the nail condition as patients undergo treatment. The company says several new colors will be available next year.

DPMs can dispense NovaNailRX from their offices. The company says doing so can provide about $30 per bottle of extra revenue to a practice. Purchases of the product come with Egyptian themed display racks, according to Hathor Enterprises.

Gliding More Softly

To avoid potentially serious complications, it is important for patients with diabetes to reduce friction and glide softly when they walk.

The new GlideSoft® Insole, designed for patients with diabetes, can not only help reduce friction and pressure, it may prevent ulcers and blisters, according to the manufacturer, Xilas Medical, Inc. In fact, two National Institutes of Health studies concluded that the insoles significantly reduce friction and ulcerations in high-risk diabetic patients, according to the company.

The company says the insoles use low friction materials and elastic bands to reduce friction and pressure. In addition, GlideSoft also utilizes shear modulation technology to decrease friction on the bottom of the foot as patients walk.
